Three  of the artists we show are getting recognition AT LAST

BLEK le Rat , the Grandfather of all Urban / Street / Graffiti Art  is having a one man show at OPERA gallery in Bond Street.

So from Street Artist to Bond Street in only 35 years of painting & creating an entire style , which is why I think that long term he will be recognised for being so important and his prices will far outstrip those follow on stencil artists like Banksy.

This Wednesday , on "The Apprentice" I will be discussing the merits of two artists we have on show , both are doing well . Pure Evil  has a great range of picturesand is having one man shows around the world ( with a pop up show in London this week) and Copyright is selling before I can get them as they are colourful , fun , attractive and start at £250- for unique works.

Both artists are highly praised on the show and , with 10 million or more viewers I can see demand for their work  increasing. In fact , over the last 18 months or so a few pieces by Pure Evil have come onto the secondary market into salerooms all making a healthy profit for the sellers .

.

Apart from being on The Hotel Inspector in a few months , thats all the poublicity for me / my artists for the moment.

We only have ONE  ROBBO  oil left , as you know his paintings are SO scarce , but we do have a few prints , though I'm told no more will be published - but thats now up to his family. The Good news is he is out of the coma .

Swoon & Peter Blake

There was a fantastic article about the much under rated American artist SWOON , this week in the Sunday Times.  Also in the Sunday Times was an article about the lasting love of " Alice in Wonderland" and the image chosen for the article was a Peter Blake we have for sale.  - SO a good week in the media - IF any clients missed the articles & want a copy let me know & I'll see if I have a spare.

Dog Danger & Good News

I am deligted to be able to let you know that the incredible artist , SWOON   who has already shown in  useums all over Europe & USA , is going to have 6-8 pages in The Sunday Times soon & also , will be the first ever artist to be on the cover of every Time Out magazine . In the past every city has had its own localised cover.

We are busy in the gallery with clients buying her work , from £375 for a great print MEDUSA to the unique pieces on wood.

I am frameing some beautiful colourful spin paintings by Rose Popay , who for many years did spin paintings in Damien Hirst's studio , to make sure there is no confusion they are cearly signed by her AND stamped H2H - Homage to Hirst.

With the financial troubles deepening , inflation at 5.2% ( you try getting that after tax on your savings) more clients are buying as a hedge against inflation and new clients are coming every day.

Life is very good at the moment .

Have a good weekend

AMAZING week

I had the pleasure of meeting a fantastic artist , Ben Eine for the first time at his studio recently . I had bumped into him a couple of times in London galleries without knowing it was him but now we know each other he is working on a commission for a client and it will be the first time ever he has done an alphabet in lower case.

THEN , at the weekend I was part of a BBC Documentary about another artist we show in my gallery who will be featured next March / April on BBC 1 .

AND next week I’m being filmed with one of the Damien Hirst “IN a Spin” portfolio boxes for the discovery channel which will go out worldwide .

Interest seems to be building in art every day.

I heard about an incredible exhibition of art ( even a knitted bird) drawing ( no pun) attention to the 200 species man has made extinct & all the other species threatened by us. The show has over 70  Ralph Steadman pictures and starts a world tour in a school in East London. Must find it & go.

Another great show at the moment is the Joseph Herman at the Ben Uri gallery,

Banksy Poster Auctioned for £4500

The Banksy poster we donated to be auctioned at a recent charity event sold for £4500.00!!

The poster was correctly described (it was not signed and was one of 1000+ in good condition).

Auction bidding began at £200 but a bidding war between a couple of young city bankers and a well known young international comedian ensued. The comedian won. Nothing else at the auction was bid for in the same way.

News from the art scene

I've started up a blog to share my thoughts on the art scene, recent news and other things I come across from day to day. In due course I hope it will add some insight to the art world as I see it, as an Art Dealer located outside London, but with close links to this world-class city and the broader world of contemporary art.
